New tablet Windows 8, Erisson R18

In this April, Erisson has already shown this R18 tablet Windows in the HK trade show. This unit is based on Intel Bay Trail-T quad core processor. But after the show, this R18 is not available in the market. Yesterday, this unit finally appeared on ontablets.es. The price is only 125 euros.

This Erisson R18 adopts the metal body, total weight is only 570G. The thickness is 8.5mm. Its screen size is 10.1 inch, IPS. Resolution is 1280*800, and adopts the OGS technology. CPU is the Intel Bay Trail-T Z3735F quad core processor. This chipset is adopting 22nm process technology, frequency is 1.8GHz. Power consumption is quite low. RAM is 2GB, flash memory is 32GB. The operation system is Windows 8.1 OS. Both cameras are 2M pixels.

There are HDMI, Micro USB and Micro SD hosts on the body of the unit. Except the screen resolution, this unit is still very good.

Specification of Allwinner A83T octa core processor

In this Sept, Allwinner launched its octa core processor, A83T for tablets. Today, let's see its detail information.

Allwinner A83T adopts the 28nm HPC process technology. It contains eight ARM Cortex A7 chips. The max frequency is 2.0GHz. All the 8 chips can run in same time. The GPU is PowerVR SGX544 which is also adopted in Allwinner A31 and A31S. Its max frequency is 700MHz. Performance is excellent. Regarding RAM, the DDR working frequency is about 800MHz. It can support the 1920*1200 pixels screen well.

Allwinner A83T can support video recording in 1080P@60fps manner, and support H.265 of 1080P@30fps. This processor can support 8M pixel cameras. It adopts the Magnificent Display Technology to improve the video quality.

Except that, Allwinner support digital patent protection including Widevine Level 1 for Miracast HDCP 2.X etc.

Processor adopts the 28nm process technology, and based on ARM Cortex A7. Its power consumption is also very low, even better than most quad core processor in market.

Much faster, ARM launched new Mali 8 GPU

Yesterday, ARM launched its new generation GPU. It has included the Mali-T820, Mali-T830 and Mali-T860. All of them can support OpenGL ES 1.1/2.0/3.1, OpenCL 1.1/1.2, DirectX 11, RenderScript Compute and other popular API.

Among the three GPU, Mali-T860 is the top one. Its running speed is about 45% faster than Mali-T628. It owns 16 shader cores and each core contains two ALU cores. It can support the DirectX 11.1. Mali-T830 is for middle end market. It owns 4 shader cores. And each core contains two ALU cores. It can support DirectX 11 FL 9_3. Mali-T820 is one low end product. It also owns 4 shader cores, but each core only contain one ALU core. It also can support DirectX 11 FL9_3. But it can not support DirectX 11.1.

China smart phones suppliers are not willing to pay patent to Qualcomm

China is the biggest market for Qualcomm. Many smart phone suppliers in China adopt processor from Qualcomm. And accordingly, Qualcomm has made a lot in China. But now, it also faces some risk in China. That is because that China smart phone suppliers are not willing to pay patent to Qualcomm.

Now, in China, the demand for smart phone is still increasing. Qualcomm is also profited in this market. But from the Qualcomm financial report of last quarter, now, it has some big problem in China.

Now, many smart phone suppliers rely on Qualcomm chipset. But Qualcomm also make profit from the suppliers. As the agreement, Qualcomm can make 8 US dollars for one smart phone in 200 US dollars.

In last quarter, many suppliers refused to pay for the patent, or some pay less. Of course, some big smart phone suppliers, like Huawei, MI, CoolPad, NEC is keeping their promise to pay the patent. That is quite a good news to Qualcomm.

But now, Qualcomm is involved into a autitrust Probe in China. It will last another 12 months more in future.

China market has already taken 20% of total income of Qualcomm, and Qualcomm is also expecting to increase their business by China market.

Nvidia Shield tablet with Android 5.0 OS

In this Oct, Google launched the Android 5.0 Lollipop operation system. We have got the news that the Nvidia Shield tablet will come with this Android 5.0 OS. But we did not know when it will be available.

Today, Ontablets has received the letters from Nvidia Shield team. The letter told, new Nvidia Shield tablet will come with Android 5.0 OS. In the letter, it contains one black silicon case for the Shield tablet.

Panasonic launched a tablet pc for outdoors

Last week, Panasonic launched a new tablet pc, Toughpad FZ-B2. This tablet is water proof, anti shock and dust off. We can say this tablet is special for out doors.

In this May, Panasonic has already launched two 5 inch tablets, they are quite similar as this FZ-B2, water proof etc. But this FZ-B2 owns one 7 inch IPS screen, resolution is 1280*800 pixels. Total weight is 540G, and unit is 18mm thickness. More important, there is anti reflection coating on the surface of the screen. This feature is quite important when we use the tablet outdoors.


This TouchPad FZ-B2 adopts one Intel Celeron N2930 quad core processor. The frequency is 1.83Ghz. It can be enhanced to 2.16Ghz by the Intel Turbo Boost technology. There are dual cameras available. The front one is 2M pixels, and rear one is 5M pixels. It has 2GB RAM and 32GB flash memory.


Though, we don't know the battery capacity for now. But as our news, once you recharge the battery 2.5 hours, then it can last working for over 7 hours. More important, the battery can be replaced by users.

This FZ-B2 will be for sale in UK first in Dec. The price is about 590 pounds. In US, it will be available for sale in next Feb, and price is 1300 US dollars.

Except the powerful performance, this tablet owns a lot of accessories, which is quite useful when outdoors.
