Qualcomm self owned 64 bit processor

Yesterday, some news said the latest XiaoMi smart phone, Mi5 will adopt the Qualcomm 64 bit octa core processor, Snapdragon 810. It is quite an amazing news. But today, Ontablets said the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 will be available for mass production in the second quarter of 2015, that means the smart phones with it will be available in middle of 2015 at earliest. That means the XiaoMi Mi5 is quite impossible to adopt this Snapdragon 810 processor.

Ontablets also said, as the Snapdragon 810 is quite powerful, so after it is available, in future, there is little space the enhance it further. So it may be not a good news for smart phones suppliers that it is available too early.

But we have to say, Snapdragon 810 adopts the ARM open framework. It integrates four Cortex A53 and four Cortex A57. But the other Qualcomm processor, MSM8996 is based on the ARMv8 and self developed processor. It is quite similar as the Apple A8, and Nvidia Tegra K1.

Something about dual OS tablets

From 2010 till now, Android OS becomes the most popular operation system for smart mobile devices. And there are more and more apps with touching operation available in market. Facing the competition, Microsoft also launched the Windows 8 operation system with Metro touch interface. But both OS are very different. Compared with single OS tablets, the dual OS units can benefit users more. As we have mentioned above, Android OS has more apps and better touch operation, and Windows OS can work with software for laptop PC.

Though the Windows 8 OS has already been added the Metro interface, and there is some apps for Windows OS. But the amount is much less and their update frequency is also lower. But Compared with Android OS, Windows OS has better performance of IE and video playback, and it is also compatible with Coredrawl, Photoshop etc which Android OS can not make it.

But as the Bay Trail processors are not powerful to run big 3D online games in Windows OS, but in Android OS, it can be run easily.

Kodak will launch smart phones android and tablets android in CES 2015

We have tested both Nokia N1 and iPad Mini 3 in same condition, and same third party software. The test has covered the performance of CPU and GPU. Regarding the GPU test, Nokia N1 is scored by over 12600, and iPad Mini 3 is about 10300. The CPU test shows the Nokia N1 is scored by over 45000, much higher than iPad Mini 3.

Except the high performance, Nokia N1 is also more slim and lighter than iPad Mini 3. The thickness is 0.6mm less, and weight is 13g lighter than iPad Mini 3.

But we have to notice that two units are running two different operation system, so the test result is not equal, but it can show how powerful Nokia N1 is.

Four new dual OS tablets PC from Onda

Onda V820W owns 8 inch IPS screen. Resolution is 1280*800 pixels. CPU is also Intel quad core processor. RAM is 2GB, flash memory is 32GB. Its price is only 80 euros. Of course, Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, HDMI are all available.

All the four tablets have one instant button to switch between Windows 8.1 and Android OS.

Onda V919 3G Air tablet pc with dual OS launched

2 in 1 tablet in 2015

From 2010, when Apple launched the first tablet, iPad, during the past three years, the tablet sales is increasing a lot. But in 2014, the demand starts to reduce. As information from Suverimax, the total sales of tablets in 2014 is about 236 million pieces. The increasing rate is reduced to 7.2% from 52.5% in 2013. Many tablets suppliers in China has been closed in 2014.

Usually, people like to compare tablets with laptop PC. The front one is more portable, the latter one is more powerful. So at the end of 2014, there are many 2 in 1 tablets available which can be tablet and laptop PC as well. But most of the 2 in 1 tablets adopt the Intel Bay Trail processor. Though its performance is not bad, but compared with laptop PC, it is still much less powerful. It can handle some simple office job, but for some special work, like artwork etc, it still not good enough.

In Sept, Intel launched the Core M processor which is based on 14nm process for 2 in 1 tablets. Compared with the Bay Trail processor, its process technology is enhanced, and performance is also much better.

Intel Core M has seven different models. All of them are adopting 14nm process, frequency is 2.9GHz at max. It can support 4MB 3rd level cache. GPU is the HD5300, which is based on Intel 8th generation graphic. Frequency can be 850MHz at max. It can support 3840*2160 pixels resolution at max. The total power consumption is only 4.5W.

Even the cheapest one Core M 5Y10C, its performance is similar as I3. Adding on tablet is more slim than laptop PC, and can work as laptop PC as well, so in 2015, it may replace laptop PC very soon.
