ARM acquired two companies in US

Today, ARM announced that it has already acquired two companies in US. One is Wicentric and the other is Sunrise Micro Devices. And ARM will launch a new brand name, Cordio. In meanwhile, ARM developed one new technology, Sub-voltage Bluetooth system. It will help chipset suppliers shorten the time for products availability.



ARM did not tell how much it costs to acquire these two companies. Sunrise will produce low power consumption wireless devices, like Bluetooth 4.0 CMOS. Wicentric will provide Bluetooth Smart software stack for the low power consumption wireless devices. Sunrise was established by some staff working for Motorola Labs before.

As we know, the major incoming of ARM is chipset for smart phones and tablets. Recently, ARM is trying to enhance its position in Internet of Things.

Recently, ARM has already made some small acquisition. For example, it has already acquired one company from Holland. Now, ARM is fighting for the market of Internet of Things.
